Job Description

Project Planning and Coordination:

    • Develop detailed project implementation plans that align with the project's 3-year action plan, ensuring all components are integrated.
    • Coordinate with technical leads, local stakeholders, and government bodies to ensure alignment and support for project activities.
  • Facilitate the recruitment and training of technical and support staff across the project’s key components.
  • Ensure that gender equality and social inclusion principles are integrated into all project components.
  • Promote the active participation of women and marginalized groups in project activities.
  • Ensure that all project activities are environmentally sustainable, minimizing negative impacts on natural resources.
  • Integrate environmental considerations into project planning and implementation, including the use of eco-friendly materials and practices.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local governments, NGOs, and international agencies to enhance project outcomes.
  • Represent the project at relevant forums, including cluster meetings, conferences, and donor briefings.

Technical Leadership in Health & Nutrition:

    • Lead the design and implementation of health interventions, including maternal and child health, communicable disease prevention, and nutrition programs.
    • Supervise the delivery of essential health services, ensuring that clinical protocols are followed and that health outcomes are monitored and improved.
    • Oversee the distribution and proper use of medical supplies, ensuring compliance with health standards and donor requirements.
    • Implement community-based nutrition programs, including malnutrition screening, therapeutic feeding, and counseling for caregivers.
  • Ensure integration of mental health and psychosocial support services (MHPSS) into health programming.
  • Establish robust M&E frameworks to track health and nutrition outcomes, using data to refine and improve program strategies.
  • Ensure regular health assessments are conducted, analyzing data to inform ongoing program adjustments.

Technical Leadership in WASH:

    • Lead the implementation of WASH programs, including the construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of water supply systems, sanitation facilities, and hygiene promotion activities.
    • Ensure the design and construction of WASH infrastructure adhere to national and international standards, considering the needs of women, children, and other vulnerable groups.
    • Oversee the promotion of hygiene practices, ensuring community engagement and education on safe water use, sanitation, and hygiene.
    • Coordinate with engineers and technical teams to design water systems that are resilient and sustainable, incorporating climate change adaptation strategies.
    • Develop and implement emergency WASH interventions in response to sudden outbreaks of waterborne diseases or other emergencies.
    • Ensure that emergency WASH responses are timely, effective, and integrated with other project components.
    • Implement comprehensive M&E systems to track the effectiveness of WASH interventions, ensuring timely data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Regularly conduct WASH needs assessments to identify gaps and opportunities for program improvement.

Technical Leadership in Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL):

  • Design and oversee the implementation of FSL programs, including agricultural support, livestock management, and income-generating activities.
  • Manage the distribution of agricultural inputs, tools, and seeds, ensuring equitable access and usage among beneficiaries.
  • Lead efforts to improve food production through the introduction of climate-smart agriculture practices and technologies.
  • Promote diversified livelihoods through vocational training and small business development initiatives, enhancing household income and resilience.
  • Integrate nutrition-sensitive approaches within FSL programs to ensure that food security interventions contribute directly to improved nutrition outcomes.
  • Develop market linkages and support value chain development to improve the market access of local farmers and producers.
  • Facilitate the establishment of cooperatives or associations to strengthen the bargaining power of smallholders.
  • Establish systems to monitor food security indicators, using data to refine program approaches and ensure the resilience of food systems.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of FSL activities, including impact assessments and beneficiary feedback mechanisms.
 

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Business Adminsitration, Public Administration, Public Health, , Agriculture, or a related field. PMP Certification is a plus point
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in managing complex, multi-sectoral development projects, particularly in Health & Nutrition, WASH, and FSL.
  • Proven track record in technical leadership, including designing and implementing sector-specific interventions.
  • Extensive experience in capacity building, community engagement, and partnership development.

Commitment and Dedication:

  • Knowledge, understanding and commitment to organizational policies
  • Willingness to travel to provinces when planed by the management
  • Willingness to work outside official hours

Language Proficiency:

  • Fluency in both national language (Dari & Pashto) oral and written
  • Fluency in English is a must both oral and written
